Who doesn't know the Labrador?

The Labrador Retriever falls under the breed group: retrievers, spaniels and hunting dogs. This also includes the Golden Retriever, Flatcoated Retriever, English Cocker Spaniel and Kooikerhondje. Unfortunately, there are a number of things you need to take into account with this breed. Common problems with the Labrador Retriever
Fat layer
Labrador Retrievers naturally have more fat than most dog breeds. This is in their genes: the ancestors of this breed often swam in cold lakes (Labrador Retrievers are known to love swimming) and therefore also had a good layer of fat. However, this does make Labrador Retrievers generally quite voracious eaters. Overweight is therefore always lurking.
Overweight Labrador Retriever Puppies
With puppies, it is therefore important to watch out for overweight. Puppies need more fats and proteins during their first year of life than adult dogs. However, too much of a good thing can cause a puppy to become overweight before it is even a year old. It is important that the puppy receives food that is tailored to its age. Denkadog believes it is important that your dog gets a good start. Denkadog Pup Junior Croc provides puppies and dogs up to 1 year old with the right amount of energy that a growing body requires.
Joint problems
The Labrador Retriever is a very active dog. His energetic way of moving, in combination with his big appetite (overweight), can cause a lot of pressure on his joints. Joint problems such as hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia are therefore common problems in Labrador Retrievers. These conditions are partly genetically determined, but fortunately you can prevent them yourself for the most part. You do this by not letting the dog climb too many stairs and feeding him a healthy, balanced diet.
Hotspots
Some breeds seem to be more sensitive to hotspots than other breeds. Long-haired dogs, but also Labrador retrievers, for example, are sensitive to this. Because the skin is damaged, crusts and wet bald spots appear in the coat. They are seen more frequently on the legs, at the base of the ear and on the back. The spots become infected with bacteria, which makes hygiene important. Hot spots can also occur with a food allergy, especially in the early stages of an allergy.
Denkadog Hypo-Weight especially for the Labrador retriever
Denkadog Hypo-Weight has a special recipe with herbal extracts. This promotes weight loss and ensures that your dog loses weight in a measured and natural way. By feeding multiple small portions, your dog's stomach is filled without encouraging fat storage.
The better the quality of the food, the more nutrients it contains and the less he needs to get his daily recommended amounts. And therefore, the less quickly he will become too fat. Therefore always choose a complete kibble that is suitable for the life stage of the dog.

How much can your (adult) Labrador Retriever eat?
male
An adult male weighs an average of 35 kg and may then be fed 340 – 465 grams of Denkadog Hypo-Weight per day.
Bitch
An adult female dog will weigh an average of 28 kg and may be fed 260 – 360 grams of Denkadog Hypo-Weight per day.
