It is annoying when your dog is ill. To enjoy your dog as long as possible, care is of great importance. Denkadog has therefore developed food to support dogs that still have a problem with food.
Help my dog doesn't want to eat anymore
Why do some dogs leave their food? More than half of dogs eat less or not at all. A dog can easily go days or even weeks without solid food. What can you do about this?
- Keep a close eye on the dog. If in doubt, make an appointment with a vet;
- Give his dog food in a different place and in a different bowl;
- Take away the food if he doesn't start eating;
- Let your dog eat in a playful way, for example by offering the food in a toy;
- Wet the food with lukewarm water.
What are the 3 things you should definitely NOT do if your dog no longer eats kibble?
1. Don't immediately buy a different type of dog food;
2. Do not give extra snacks in between;
3. Don't force food on you.
3 possible reasons why your dog is not eating?
1. Nutritional needs decrease
Once dogs are fully grown, their need for food decreases. This is also a reason why dogs become fatter. This often happens gradually.
2. Heat
Female dogs that are in heat may temporarily leave their food untouched. Male dogs that have a dog in heat nearby may also leave their food untouched.
3. Your dog is overfed
A common cause of less enthusiastic eating is overdosing. A dog can be given multiple dog treats during a walk or as a reward.
Tip: give your own dog biscuits as a reward. Denkadog has a high digestibility, so the energy intake is also very high.
Help my dog has sensitive intestines/diarrhea
In healthy dogs, the cause is usually a nutritional error. For example, eating too much of a different food than they are used to or too many snacks, chews, etc. The stomach and intestines are not resistant to everything. Read more? Stomach and intestinal problems in dogs, how do you tackle that ?
Help, my dog has a bad coat (dandruff, sheds a lot, loses a lot of hair)
Dandruff, itching, a dry or greasy coat and baldness are signs of a bad coat. Read more? The different skin and coat problems in dogs .
Help my dog has bladder grit
It is important to determine which type of bladder grit it is. Each type requires a different treatment. The vet can provide clarity on this.
How do you prevent your dog from getting bladder grit?
- The less salt the dog ingests, the less chance of bladder grit. Denkadog contains less salt;
- Make sure your dog gets enough exercise. This prevents urine from concentrating;
- Make sure there is sufficient drinking water available.
Help my dog ate chocolate
If dogs have eaten chocolate, it is very important to find out:
- How much chocolate the dog has eaten. For a small dog, even small pieces of chocolate can be dangerous;
- Is it milk chocolate, dark chocolate or white chocolate?
- What exactly did the dog eat? For example, chocolate cookies, chocolate cake, chocolate bar;
- What is the theobromine content (cocoa content)? This is stated on the packaging.
