Feeding your dog food is most effective when fed regularly
How much food can I give my dog? This is a frequently asked question by dog owners. It is important to determine a fixed pattern and stick to it. An adult dog can easily be fed two to three times a day and a puppy follows a feeding table during the first year of its life. You will determine what your dog can eat based on the information and advice you receive. How much your dog can eat will be determined by the advice on the packaging. The daily amount should not vary much. We advise you to only offer the bowl of kibble when it is mealtime for your dog. If you follow a fixed pattern, you will soon see whether your dog is getting thinner or fatter.

The daily recommended amount is indicated on the packaging of the food. This amount is based on the ideal adult weight for the dog breed. This is a starting point for how much your dog may eat daily. Based on the condition (fat/thin) you determine whether this is sufficient, too much or too little. If necessary, adjust the amount of food. Not every dog of the same breed eats the same amount. The energy requirement of your dog depends on various individual factors:
- Age
- Grow
- Carry
- Ambient temperature
- Physical exertion
- Sterilization/castration
Large and small breed dogs use more energy per kilogram of body weight than average sized dogs. However, small dogs get fat faster. This is probably because the owner mistakes how much energy a snack or treat contains. A small dog can tolerate less than a large dog. Nutritional guidelines are therefore a starting point, but also take into account the extras that are given.

How often and how much should my puppy eat?
We prefer to give young dogs a little bit several times a day, just like with babies. This is also stated on the packaging of our puppy food . Divide the stated amount on the packaging over the number of meals.
- One month to three months: four meals
- Three months to twelve months: three meals
- After twelve months you can switch to two or three meals.
Is your puppy growing too fast?
Depending on the size of the breed, the optimal growth rate in the first two years of life varies greatly. Small breeds should reach approximately 50% of their final weight in three months. Large to very large breeds should only reach 20/25% of their final weight in the same period.
A special feeding schedule has been developed for Denkadog puppy food. Advice is given based on an expected growth curve . Growth can be checked monthly. A puppy can eat puppy food for up to twelve months and this food is specifically made for growing dogs. At the age of twelve months, you should switch to food for adult dogs .

2. How much should my dog weigh at the moment?
Determine what your dog should weigh when he is an adult. Then go down and where the age intersects with the adult weight you can see what the weight is at the desired age and how much food he can eat per day.
3. What is my dog's current weight?
It is advisable to regularly put a young dog on the scale for weight control. This weight development must be adjusted to the final weight to be achieved as an adult. So put your dog on the scale and see what he weighs.
